Building Progressive Regional Coalitions of Community and Labor Groups

In 2011, CAUSE brought together the Ventura County Labor and Community Power Building Table. The coalition includes the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Local 1828, Black American Political Association of California (BAPAC) of Ventura County,, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 952, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) of Ventura County, Multicultural Consortium, Oxnard Federation of Teachers and School Employees (OFTSE) Local 1273, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 484, and SEIU 721.

Members of that coalition share a collective vision for Ventura County where the 99 percent have access to a quality public education, quality jobs with collective bargaining rights, health coverage and fair retirement pensions, and healthy neighborhoods.

This diverse and progressive coalition is working together for local and state policies like Project Labor Agreements, the Millionaires Tax for public education K-12, community colleges, state universities and for critical local city and county services and infrastructure.
