When Hueneme High School students involved with CAUSE learned of a recent ACLU report highlighting ongoing problems and listing their district as 6th in the state for number of English Learners not receiving adequate services, they jumped into action.
CAUSE brought together a coalition of groups representing students, parents and teachers organized two community forums in Oxnard on November 12th and 14th on how to spend incoming funds.
Thanks to the Santa Maria chapter's parent committee, schools in Santa Maria will soon be more accessible to immigrant families with the removal of the school district's fingerprint policy.
CAUSE is engaging students, parents and teachers in school districts throughout the Central Coast to get involved in spending new state funds aimed at improving schools for low-income, English Learner and foster youth.
