CAUSE Ventura Chapter leaders mobilized to defeat an effort by developers to remove the city's inclusionary housing policy, which sets aside housing for low and moderate income families
In August 2013, the Oxnard City Council voted to make the Del Norte Regional Recycling and Waste Transfer Station a publicly-operated facility rather than contracting out to a private company. The city will be running its recycling center beginning in February 2014 and is in the process of creating a business plan, which could include some major changes to transform trash in Oxnard.
CAUSE's Marcos Vargas and Lucas Zucker write in the Ventura County Star about the state of the labor movement this Labor Day weekend. California is leading the way with diverse, dynamic unions who effectively partner with community organizations to lead the fight for dignity and justice.
CAUSE advocated for the city of Oxnard to end its multimillion dollar contract with a private corporation for recycling and instead publicly run the Del Norte recycling center to improve labor and environmental standards.
