Jovita was born and raised in Ventura County and has been employed in the non-profit sector over 17 years. She has worked for United Way of Ventura County, The American Cancer Society, and the Ventura County Community Foundation, serving as the first director of Destino: The Hispanic Legacy Fund, where she oversaw the first ever Ventura County Latino Health Needs Assessment.
She has served on numerous boards including El Concilio, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County, Ventura County Commission for Women, UC Santa Barbara Alumni Association and was recently elected to the board of the Ventura County Women’s Political Council.
While at UC Santa Barbara, Jovita majored in Sociology and was elected to the Associated Student Senate.
Currently, Jovita serves as the Development Director for CAUSE and is responsible for donor relations, fundraising and special events. She believes CAUSE’s social justice work is important to Ventura County and appreciates all CAUSE supporters.
