Community Organizer: Santa Paula

René García Hernández identifies as a queer CIS male of color, who is undocumented, first-generation, and an agent of hope. René was born in Michoacán, Mexico and was raised in Santa Barbara, California. Throughout his life, He has always been a unique, curious, life long learner who is intrigued by the discovery of knowledge and pursuing his intrinsic passion for hope, love, and social justice. He lives his life authentically and believes in challenging ahistoricism in public education research, policy, and practice to better understand how minority groups of color are affected. As a community organizer, René shares his hisotria to name oppression and to arrest its actions whether as genocide, racism, classism, and xenophobia, or any other type of institutionalized marginalization. In action and hope, he tells his historia to speak for justice against all crimes against humanity.
