Erica Diaz Cervantez
Policy Advocate

Erica, daughter of immigrant parents from Oaxaca, Mexico, was born and raised in Santa Maria. She has actively volunteered in her community and her hard efforts were recognized in 2018 as the community assisted her in attending UC Irvine where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in both Political Science and International Studies. Having experienced social injustice throughout her life, Erica has chosen the pathway to advocate for the rights of both her family and community. She became involved in SAFIRE, Students Advocating for Immigrant Rights and Equity, an advocacy group in college and also led a team of college students to persuade California representatives to advocate for Sen. Bill 461, granting low income students financial aid for summer classes. Erica joined the CAUSE team in 2022 as a policy advocate and will be working with the Farmworker community in Santa Maria to achieve social and economic justice.
